Asif Syed’s 27 years of engineering practice in the United States, which includes large high profile projects in the United States, Asia, Europe, Middle East, and South America, combined with his experience developing new and advanced technologies brings an extraordinary level of mechanical engineering skill to Barrett Green Management. He has been responsible for the design and analysis of mechanical systems including advanced building technologies, net zero buildings, energy analysis, life cycle costs, cost effective energy saving strategies, and sustainable design. Asif Syed’s experience contributes high value added expertise from programming to occupancy. Asif has worked on several LEED projects, where he has introduced pragmatic and cost effective energy saving strategies.

Among his many projects, Asif introduced Under Floor Air Distribution in connection with the renovation of the Biltmore Theater. He designed the MEP systems for Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall and, Newseum in Washington DC. Mr. Syed’s current projects include: a carbon footprint reduction at St. John’s University, net zero buildings for the New York School Authority and Stony Brook Environmental Center, a LEED-Gold building for Hilton Realty, a high-performance data center for Princeton University, as well as a LEED mixed use complex in India and, a sustainable laboratory for Saudi FDA.

Mr. Syed’s professional activities and affiliations include the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, better known as ASHRAE and the Corporate Real Estate Network (CORENET). He has spoken widely throughout the world and has collaborated with many major architectural firms in the United States. He did research at the Building Engineering and Architectural Research Center and Wiley published his books “Advanced Building Technologies for Sustainability” and “HVAC Systems and Sustainability Considerations for Tall and Super Buildings.” Asif Syed currently runs his own consulting firm STE Engineering. Previous positions included Partner at AKF Engineers and Senior Vice President at Flack + Kurtz Consulting Engineers.

Asif Syed earned a Bachelor of Engineering at Bangalore University in India and a Master of Science at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is a licensed and registered engineer in New York and other states and is a 2.0 Accredited LEED® Professional.
